From the FBI today regarding the release of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy’s bureau files:

This release consists of material from seven FBI files—three Headquarters files and four field division files, totaling more then 2,200 pages. It covers the FBI’s relationship with Senator Kennedy from 1961 to 1985. At no point do these files suggest that the FBI investigated Senator Kennedy for a criminal violation or as a security threat. The bulk of this material concerns FBI investigation of threats of violence and other extortion claims against Senator Kennedy and other public officials.

A quick scan of the docs, actually shows that there are some going up to 1991.  If you’d like to view the files you can find them here.

Newest Most Wanted Terrorist: Daniel San Diego

Is the Obama Administration trying to placate the wingnuts upset about recent DHS report?

The hard-right wasn’t happy about the Dept. of Homeland Security’s report on right-wing extremism.  The lines in talk radio call screeners’ booths lit up for a week or so because DHS had the temerity to do their job.  After all, it wasn’t so long ago that militia wannabe Tim McVeigh killed 168 in the Oklahoma City Bombing.  The left’s current-day version of domestic terrorism is firebombing empty buildings, defacing hummers, and liberating lab rats. When the Right gets stupid they hit the woods with automatic weapons and ANFO.

Due to the hurt feelings of our upstanding militia members, Christian Identity folks, Neo-Nazis and Kluckers, FBI Assistant Director Michael Heimbach announced today the entry of a domestic terrorist onto the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists List: Daniel San Diego.

From the AP:

The move to add a domestic, left-wing terrorist to the list comes only days after the Obama administration was criticized for internal reports suggesting some military veterans could be susceptible to right-wing extremist recruiters or commit lone acts of violence. That prompted angry reactions from some lawmakers and veterans groups.

An arrest warrant was issued for San Diego after the 2003 bombings in northern California of the corporate offices of Chiron Corp., a biotechnology firm, and at Shaklee Corp., a nutrition and cosmetics company. The explosions caused minor damages and no injuries.

So, Where in the World is Daniel San Diego?
